Purpose of the Program: The aim of the pastry and bakery education in our school is; To meet the need for qualified pastry cooks, bakers and baklava makers for accommodation and food and beverage businesses, to raise individuals who can compete internationally with universities abroad, both professionally and with foreign language knowledge, to prepare a ground for individuals who graduated from vocational high schools in the field of pastry and bakery, to continue. To guide students in preparing and presenting quality and creative products in food and beverage businesses.

Program Benefits:

Defines the basic concepts and occupational standards related to pastry and bakery.
Gains knowledge about the organizational structure and the operation of the production process in the enterprises producing cake and bread.
Performed in food and beverage businesses; cake, chocolate, bread, dessert etc. realizes the production of products in accordance with the production technique.
Knows the use of computer programs (Word, excel, etc.) and technical equipment used in the food and beverage industry.
With its theoretical and practical experience, it analyzes the problems it encounters in the sector and applies solution-oriented process management.
Develops new products for the pastry and bakery industry, makes decoration techniques and cake decoration applications in pastry.
In line with the basic principles of food safety, it produces pastry and bakery products without adversely affecting human health.
In line with the training received on occupational health and safety, he/she will have information about the basic rights and obligations in the workplace.
It plans the appropriate menu by determining the pastry and bread products according to the needs of the nutritional elements and food groups.

Employment Profile of Graduates

The working areas of individuals who graduated from the pastry and bakery program are quite wide. After graduation, students will be able to work in public and generally private enterprises. However, graduates; in independent food and beverage businesses (restaurants, cafes, patisseries, bakeries), catering businesses, cruise lines, airline businesses, etc., mainly in tourism regions and big cities. In areas where food and beverage services are offered and especially in hotel businesses with a patisserie section; They will have the opportunity to work as a Pastry Chef, Pastry Shop, Assistant Pastry Shop, Baklava Shop, Pastry Shop, Dessert Shop, Pizza Shop, Pide Shop, Lahmacunist, Baker, Bagel Shop and Chocolate Shop.

Vertical Transfer Opportunities

Students who graduate from the pastry and bakery program can transfer vertically to the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Departments of Tourism Faculties, if they are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam given by ÖSYM.
